KFOR Visits Muscle Car Ranch: The Story Behind TwisterFest

An Oklahoma Music Festival at an Outdoor Museum

KFOR Oklahoma’s News 4 visited Muscle Car Ranch near Chickasha, Oklahoma, to tell the story of Curtis Hart, the unusual 82-acre property he has spent decades building, and the music festival that grew out of it: TwisterFest.

In the “Is This a Great State or What?” feature, reporter Galen Culver explores how an old pasture became a one-of-a-kind Oklahoma destination filled with vintage cars, highway signs, buildings, ponds, stages and decades of collected Americana.

Building Muscle Car Ranch

Curtis began bringing old signs, cars and other finds to the property decades ago with the encouragement of his grandfather. What started as a collection gradually became Muscle Car Ranch — a sprawling outdoor museum built largely by Curtis himself.

The KFOR feature tours some of the property’s hidden corners, permanent stages and unusual structures while showing the work that has gone into creating the venue.

From Muscle Car Ranch to TwisterFest

Curtis has also spent years opening the ranch to other people through concerts, swap meets and special events. That tradition eventually became TwisterFest.

At the time of this 2023 KFOR feature, TwisterFest was a three-day event featuring four stages, dozens of bands and professional wrestling throughout the weekend.

The segment also shows Curtis discussing future ideas for the property, including restoring vintage RVs, buses and trailers along the water for overnight guests.
